WEMC annual meeting set for March 26

            Wake Electric, a nonprofit member-owned utility serving parts of seven counties, will hold its annual member meeting Friday, March 26, in the auditorium of Louisburg College in Louisburg.
            Some of the topics for discussion are renewable energy, energy efficiency and climate change legislation and how those affect Wake Electric and its members. There will be reports on the current plans and progress of the utility.
            Three members have been nominated for three-year terms on the board of directors: Allen Nelson of Stovall for District 1, Joe Hilburn of Raleigh for District 4, and Joe Eddins of Zebulon for District 8.
            Attending members will be entered into a drawing for prizes, including $5,000 in cash prizes. The grand prize will be $1,000, there will be two second-place prizes of $500 each, there will be four third-place prizes of $250 each, and 20 four-place prizes of $100 each.
            Registration will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the business meeting beginning at 7 p.m. Members will find a registration card in the March issue of Carolina Country, the member magazine, and registration is required to attend and win any of the prizes.
            Separate activities are planned for school-aged children during the meeting.
