Town tips for a safe Fourth

Published Jul 1, 2009

The Town of Wake Forest wants to ensure that citizens enjoy a safe Fourth of July weekend. Wake Forest residents are reminded that Section 14-69 of the Code of Ordinances prohibits the use of any and all fireworks inside the Town limits, unless approved by the Town of Wake Forest.
Residents are encouraged to be vigilant in their outdoor barbecue activities. The U.S. Fire Administration recommends declaring a three-foot "safe zone" around the grill to help keep children and pets away from the grill area at all times. Grills should be positioned away from siding, deck railing, and out from under the roof eave and overhanging branches. For more information and tips on fireworks and outdoor fire safety, visit the U.S. Fire Administration online at www.usfa.dhs.gov.
Residents are reminded that Wake Forest Police Department maintains a 24-hour number for non-emergency requests. This number was established to keep 9-1-1 lines open for true emergencies. For non-emergency assistance from the Wake Forest Police Department, please call 554-6150. In the event of an emergency, call 556-9111.
