Pecans are gone and cheese is missing

Purchase local produce and goods at the Wake Forest Farmers' Market.

No more pecans? We will not see the goat cheese people? There are some disappointments at the Wake Forest Farmers’ Market.
Terri Wilkinson, one of the vendors and an organizer, said the Bryan Farms booth will not return because they have sold all their pecans.
As for the Sleepy Goat Farm cheesemakers, Wilkinson said they are only selling from their farm, which is a long way from Wake Forest in Pelham, six miles south of Danville, Va., and 44 miles north of Greensboro. “We are currently trying to find someone who would be willing to get the cheese and sell it at the market. We would like to try that option before finding a new cheese vendor because we feel they make the very best goat cheese.” For those Wake Forest customers who miss the cheese and want to purchase it, to go http://www.sleepygoatfarm.com. We will also hope there is someone willing to bring it to the rest of us.
This Saturday, look for members of the American Legion and the Legion Auxiliary who will be selling poppies for Memorial Day.
Paul Davis will entertain us with his music.
There will be lots of spring-time produce – lettuces, greens, onions – and Wilkinson said, “There still will be lots of strawberries, which should be very good and sweet after a week of sunshine and no rain.”

The market runs from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 23, in the gazebo parking lot on South White Street.
