Koinonia auction/dinner set for Saturday

Published Feb 3, 2010

The 2010 Koinonia auction and dinner will be held Saturday, Feb. 6, beginning at 6 p.m. at The Forks Cafeteria, and the event offers a variety of ways to make donations toward this charity that helps many local folks and families. If you are lucky, you can also win a red 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt.
There are only 50 tickets for the Cobalt raffle, so you need to call or see Chairman Donna Marshall or any other Koinonia board members soon to purchase your $500 ticket. Marshall can be reached at 556-5418; other board members are Lynn Meyer, Interim Police Chief Jeff Leonard, Skip Midkiff, Elaine McLeod, Karen Kavanaugh-Gross, Renee Shaw, Christie Hill, Kay Mighells, Donald Warren, Bill Pitts and Dale Austin.
The organizers are again asking for monetary donations and for items for the silent and the open bidding auction.
Tickets are $30 each, and there are three sponsorship levels: $100 for Friend of Koinonia which entitles donors to two tickets; $250 for Patron with four tickets; and Koinonia Circle with six tickets.
The organization will also honor someone with the Russell Dew Community Service award during the dinner.
Koinonia provides money and support to other local organizations who address human needs that are not otherwise funded and also helps individuals in need. The foundation also focuses on a one organization each year, and this year’s focus is on Safe Space Inc. of Louisburg.
Last year’s auction raised over $70,000 with an additional large amount raised specifically for the local Backpack Buddies programs.
