All Wake Forest area residents are invited to this year’s Purple Heart Dinner which will be held appropriately on Saturday, Aug. 7, National Purple Heart Day.
The dinner will be held at Tuxedo Junction in Renaissance Place shopping center on East Elm Avenue and will begin at 6 p.m.
Longtime WTVD anchor Larry Stogner will be the emcee. Members of the Army JROTC at Wake Forest-Rolesville High will escort the honored guests and families to their seats. The Franklin Academy Jazz Band and the Wake Forest Baptist Church Men’s Choir will perform hymns for each branch of the armed services.
The speaker will be retired Marine Col. Wes Fox who earned the nation’s highest military award, the Medal of Honor, for his bravery during enemy action in Vietnam in 1969.
