Canoe/Kayak for Water Quality

Published May 13, 2009

The town and Assistant Engineer Holly Spring have a great offer for canoeing and kayaking enthusiasts: Join her on one of two Saturday mornings – or both – to boat on the Wake Forest reservoir and learn about water quality.
“Canoe/Kayak for Water Quality” will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on June 13 and July 11 at the reservoir, which is off Wait Avenue – and visible from it – near the N.C. 98 bypass.
Participants will meet at the boat ramp for a water quality education briefing before paddling up the reservoir to perform a variety of water quality tests.
People are encouraged to bring their own kayak or canoe but a few boats will be available at no charge and can be reserved on a first-come first-served basis.
Participants will be asked to sign a waiver form, and they should bring sunscreen and drinking water.
For more information about “Canoe/Kayak for Water Quality” or to register, call or e-mail Spring, 554-3158, hspring@wakeforestnc.gov.
