Someone in the Wake Forest Town Hall had a brilliant idea. Put together the centennial banners that waved from downtown lamp posts and the town’s H.O.P.E. program that helps struggling town electric customers pay their bills.
Now you can buy one of those banners for $20 – not all are for sale because they became a bit weather-worn during 2009 – and the town will donate the money to H.O.P.E., which stands for Helping Others by Providing Electricity.
Since it began in 2005, town electric customers and others have donated almost $6,000 to the program. ChurchNet, a local nonprofit group that helps needy area people, distributes the money. Over those same years, ChurchNet has been able to assist over 100 Wake Forest Power customers.
You get a piece of history; your neighbor can heat his house or cook his meals.
You can purchase the banners at town hall using cash, a Visa or MasterCard credit card or with a check payable to the Town of Wake Forest.
