Hearings Tuesday night about festivals and Community Plan
After hearing the forceful speakers at last month’s public hearing about proposed changes in the temporary development permit ordinance, Assistant Planning Director Chad Sary, the planning staff and town attorney Eric Vernon made a number of revisions to the draft.
Tuesday night, Sept. 1, concerned people will have a chance to address those revisions and changes, whether they are pro or con. The complete text with the revisions and deletions in bright colors is online at www.wakeforestnc.gov. At the first page, click on “Town Departments,” scroll down to “Planning and Inspections,” and the link to the agenda is at the top of the page. Although it says the agenda is for Sept. 3, the meeting is really on Sept. 1 just as the agenda says.
At last week’s town board mid-year retreat, the commissioners were wondering why no one has come to speak at the public hearings about the Community Plan when over 400 people participated in the three special town meetings to frame the vision, policies and agenda for the plan.
That early involvement is the reason, Planning Director Chip Russell said. The town has also a Community Plan blog on the town website where people could track the progress of the steering committee that was shaping the present draft. They could also make suggestions and comments.
