                Sharpen your turkey appetite Thursday morning by joining the Fourth Annual Gobblers Run, a 5K fun event that begins at 8 a.m. at the Wake Forest Boys and Girls Club on South Wingate Avenue.

                Get on board The Polar Express Saturday, Nov. 28, at Crossroads Entertainment. The free movie for children will be shown from 4 to 6 p.m. Parents may stay with their children or shop in town. LIFE in Wake Forest, the sponsor, will watch the children and serve cocoa.

                The Wake Forest Town Board will hold a work session Tuesday, Dec. 1, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in town hall.

                The Lighting of Wake Forest will take place Friday, Dec. 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the depot parking lot along South White Street.

                Almost all the vendors with the Wake Forest Farmers’ Market will be on hand for the Holiday Market Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Masonic Lodge on Wait Avenue half a block east of the regular site in the deport parking lot.

                The Centennial Community Christmas Gala will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, at The Sutherland. The $25 tickets are on sale now at town hall and the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce and are also available on line.

                The Wake Forest Christmas Parade will step out at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, on South White Street in the historic downtown.

                The Virginia Tull Music and Art Series sponsored by Wake Forest Baptist Church will present The American Youth Harp Ensemble Sunday, Dec. 13, at 3 p.m. in a holiday concert by candlelight. The 12-member ensemble is the country’s leading youth harp group.

                Light up the night with First Light on Dec. 31. The second year of this event should prove to be bigger and, it is sincerely hoped, warmer.
