Downtown Wake Forest will be alive Friday night, Nov. 13, with a special Art After Hours to mark the beginning of the holiday season. See the article in this week’s issue for all the special events in the shops and studios.

The Wake Forest Farmers’ Market will offer seasonal vegetables, meats, crafts, and baked goods from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 14, in the depot parking lot on South White Street.

The Wake Forest Boys and Girls Club will hold a Holiday Craft Bazaar Saturday, Nov. 14, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the club on Wingate Street. Hand crafters are encouraged to submit their applications, and the club members are also making holiday crafts for sale.

The Wake Forest Town Board will hold a short business meeting Tuesday, Nov. 17, beginning at 7 p.m. At the close of the meeting, the three board members re-elected on Nov. 3 will be sworn in for their new terms, and a reception with refreshments will follow.

On Thursday, Nov. 19, the Friends of Wake Forest Library will present a program about reading therapy dogs. The program will begin at 7 p.m. in the Northern Regional Center next door to the library.

Under the Oaks will hold its Annual Christmas Open House the weekend of Nov. 21 and 22, giving people a chance to buy unique gifts of pottery, plants and more. The shop is at 2033 Wait Ave., and the hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.

The fourth annual Gobbler’s Run will be held at 8 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, to benefit the Wake Forest Boys and Girls Club. See article in this issue for more information.

The Lighting of Wake Forest will take place Friday, Dec. 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the depot parking lot along South White Street.

The Centennial Community Christmas Gala will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, at The Sutherland. The $25 tickets are on sale now at town hall and the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce and are also available on line.

The Wake Forest Christmas Parade will step out at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, on South White Street in the historic downtown.

The Virginia Tull Music and Art Series sponsored by Wake Forest Baptist Church will present The American Youth Harp Ensemble Sunday, Dec. 13, at 3 p.m. in a holiday concert by candlelight. The 12-member ensemble is the country’s leading youth harp group.

Light up the night with First Light on Dec. 31. The second year of this event should prove to be bigger and, it is sincerely hoped, warmer.
