The Wake Forest Farmers’ Market will offer seasonal vegetables, meats, crafts, and baked goods from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 31, in the depot parking lot on South White Street.

            Wake Forest voters will elect a mayor and two commissioners on Tuesday, Nov. 3. Please check your voter registration card for your precinct.

            Because of the election, the Wake Forest Board of Commissioners regular first Tuesday work session will be delayed until Thursday, Nov. 5, at 5:30 p.m. in town hall.

            And in a really momentous change, there will be no hearings, no rezoning and no meeting for the Wake Forest Planning Board. Their next meeting will be Dec. 1.

            The Wake Forest Library will celebrate its 13^th birthday with a party on Saturday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. The Flow Circus will present a variety of acts.

            The Wake Forest College Birthplace Society will hold its annual meeting Sunday, Nov. 8, at 3 p.m. in Appleby Hall on the seminary campus. After a short business meeting the group will hear about the exhibits planned in the new annex. The conclusion of the meeting will be a tour of that annex.

            The ninth annual Stony Hill Community Veterans’ Commemorative Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 8, beginning with a free breakfast at 8 a.m. and the service from 9 to 9:45 a.m. It will be outdoors and people will be able to hear the service from their cars.

            Veterans Day will be memorialized Wednesday, Nov. 11, with a ceremony at the Wake Forest Veterans Memorial beginning at 11 a.m.

            You can still get tickets for the Purple Heart Dinner to honor veterans who have received wounds and the Purple Heart. The dinner will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, in the Ledford Center on Wingate Street on the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary campus. Tickets, $15 each, can be purchased at The Wake Weekly on East Owen Ave., the Wake Forest Area Chamber of Commerce on South White St., Wake Forest Health Club on South Main St., and Capital Bank on Capital Blvd.

            The Wake Forest Boys and Girls Club will hold a Holiday Craft Bazaar Saturday, Nov. 14, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in the club on Wingate Street. Hand crafters are encouraged to submit their applications, and the club members are also making holiday crafts for sale.

            On Thursday, Nov. 19, the Friends of Wake Forest Library will present a program about reading therapy dogs. The program will begin at 7 p.m. in the Northern Regional Center next door to the library.

            The fourth annual Gobbler’s Run will be held at 8 a.m. Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26, to benefit the Wake Forest Boys and Girls Club. See article in this issue for more information.

            The Lighting of Wake Forest will take place Friday, Dec. 4, from 6 to 9 p.m. in the depot parking lot along South White Street.

            The Centennial Community Christmas Gala will be held Saturday, Dec. 5, at the new town hall. The $25 tickets will go on sale next week for the semi-formal event.

            The Wake Forest Christmas Parade will step out at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, on South White Street in the historic downtown.

            Light up the night with First Light on Dec. 31. The second year of this event should prove to be bigger and, it is sincerely hoped, warmer.
